Club Meeting - June

As we had our AGM last month and it was great to have such a great turn out we welcomed back the committee, with the addition of Gary Moore to the ranks. A great talk by Gavin Bishop and the Official book launch of the “UNEARTHED” with this publication in hard back almost sold out well done to the team. We also welcomed a new PATRON to the club Richard Spark and I’m sure he will enjoy and embrace the role. NEW FINDS: There will be a table for collectors to bring along new and interesting items that they have come across in the last month. Limited Sales tables available on the night.

Club meeting - March CANCELLED

The committee wish to advise club members that the meeting for Sunday 28 March has been cancelled due to the rising numbers of Omicron in our community. We are aware that the government has revised a lot of the restrictions, but we felt that our members would be best served by not having the meeting this month and letting the wave flow through Canterbury. We look forward to a much less restrictive meeting in April. There are some upcoming outdoor events coming up in Canterbury which I’m sure club members will enjoy and we look forward our April meeting. The club book is at the printers.

August newsletter & update

As you will be aware we were scheduled to hold the National here in Christchurch September 17-19 and as you can imagine the organising team have been watching the regular Govt updates at 1pm and 3pm to see where the country is heading with regard this latest Delta outbreak, and sadly Fridays announcement was not good at all for the running of the National in September, even if the South Island drops to level 1 by then we need the whole country here to make it a National event.

The formality of the AGM is only a small part of the meeting and it will not take the whole evening, so the outgoing committee have decided to include a wonderful supper spread of hot savories and cakes etc to form part of the social night. As a club we are extremely active in the collecting world and we have several exciting announcements to be made at the meeting.

Alan Polaschek

Our dear Patron, Alan Polaschek, passed away at Rannerdale War Veterans Home on on Friday, April 30, 2021. We have been so fortunate to have enjoyed Alan's humour and support of our club's activities over the years and as our dedicated club Patron. Alan would have turned 88 in a few days so a good innings considering his battles with his health over recent times and the passing of his dear Patricia recently. The funeral service for Alan Polaschek was held on Friday 7th May at the Transitional Cathedral Christchurch City corner of Madras Street & Hereford Street.
